NEWARK - Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey is announcing five murals - one in each ward of Newark - to be created by scouts, local artists, and community members through Fall 2019.

"Girl Scouts Paint Newark" celebrates the legacy of women and girls in Newark and their contributions to the community. Each mural will include a paint day, an unveiling, and educational programs. The program is a partnership between GSHNJ, Yendor Productions, Newark Thrives! and the Arts Ed Network.

Other supporters include the BRICK Education Network, the City of Newark, the Mildred Helms Park Restoration Committee, Teach for America, the Trust for Public Land, and United Parks.

The program kicks off on Saturday, July 13 in Mildred Helms Park in Newark. Artist Yasmin DeJesus will be in attendance and lunch will be served. Registration is required; register online here, or follow #GSPaintNewark on Instagram or Twitter.
