NEWARK, NJ - A philanthropic group of women in Essex County is accepting submissions for a $120,000 grant that will be awarded to a nonprofit based in the county.
Impact100 Essex, which was founded and funded by women throughout the county, will accept grant submissions from June 20 to Sept. 12. There will also be an information session for organizations interested in applying on June 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at 2 Grafton Ave. in Newark.
“This year we decided that in addition to awarding a $120,000 Impact Grant to the top-rated proposal, we will allocate the remaining funds in the form of Leverage Grants to the other finalists,” said Margo Greenfield, Impact100 Essex co-founder.
The smaller grants to runner ups will be awarded with the remaining donations made to Impact100 Essex. The amount of each grant for finalists is still being determined.
“We are very pleased that our membership has grown this year so we can award Leverage Grants to recognize and support the inspiring work of our finalists,” said Helen Mazarakis, co-founder of Impact100 Essex
Impact100 Essex is part of a network of Impact groups that operate nationwide with a women-funded, collective giving model. Members contribute $1,000 each annually to fund a grant of at least $100,000.
The group seeks to fund a transformational, high impact project that affects underserved communities in Essex County. The members review the grant proposals and choose finalists.
The Impact Grant awardee will be chosen by the group at a meeting following presentations by each of the finalists.
