Newark residents who missed free lead screenings at University Hospital last week will have another opportunity to receive the blood tests Saturday.

The hospital is offering the screenings for adults and children impacted by the public health concerns associated with the presence of increased lead in the water for areas serviced by the Pequannock water treatment plant.

The screenings will be held Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. While an appointment is not required, patients are encouraged to call ahead and make one.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling (973) 972-9000. Newark residents will be required to bring proof of address to the screenings and guardians accompanying minor children must bring proof of relationship to the minor.

Last Saturday, more than 150 residents came to the screening to be tested.
