Blue Prayer Ribbons Bring Hope To Hoboken Community

St. Francis Church in Hoboken, N.J. has hung Prayer Ribbons around the gates of its church and invites parishioners and people in the community to write their thoughts and prayers on the ribbons. The prayer ribbons are usually out during Lent, in May for prayers to Mary and in October for prayers to St. Francis.

"It's a small gesture but provides a visual sign of hope and faith for everyone especially during this time," said Fr. Chris Panlilio, Pastor of the church. “The ribbons are usually in a box inside the church and people take their own ribbon, write their prayer and tie it on the fence. During the pandemic the ribbons are already tied and allows anyone to write a prayer - not just parishioners. We're praying every day for our parish, our community and the world.”
