The Center for Prevention and Counseling will be hosting a 6 week “Wellness Initiative for Senior Education” at Newton Medical Center in the Romano Conference Center every Friday beginning on December 6th from Noon-2pm and ending on Friday, January 10th. Encouraging a celebration of the aging process, WISE is a FREE six-week wellness program for those aged 55 and up. Workshop topics include safe use of medications, how to communicate with your healthcare provider, how to make healthy lifestyle choices, and alternate approaches to pain management. WISE also provides participants with an opportunity to socialize with others and connect with services available to them in their community. Complimentary lunch will be provided at each session and a gift card incentive is provided to participants who attend 5 out of 6 WISE sessions. Please note registration is on a first come first serve basis and only those who have not previously attended are eligible. Funding for this program is provided by New Jersey Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
