SPARTA, N.J.—Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran is pleased to announce the Annual Blessing of Pets will take place on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 12 PM. All pets – yes, all pets – are welcome into the sanctuary for a brief service and a special blessing from Pastor Tina. Please make sure that your pet is leashed, crated, or caged.

“I love officiating this annual blessing service. I never know what kinds of pets I’ll get to meet,” said Pastor Tina Reyes. “The bond between human and pet is a reason to celebrate and honor all of God’s creation.”

The Blessing of Pets concurs with the commemoration of St. Francis of Assisi, who was known for his affinity with animals. It is also a time to recognize the emotional and physical support pets have in folks’ lives.
