NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High Schools boys and girls track teams are looking forward to another season, hoping to win another year of league titles.

“The girls team is looking to win the league title for the fourth year in a row,” said head coach Jake Mull” and possible a sectional title, while the boys team is looking to win the league title for the second year in a row.”

And the returning letter winners for the boys’ team include:

  • Noah Sharp – Grade 12 Sprints
  • Richie Reczka –Grade 12 Throws
  • Jaiden Elliot – Grade 11 Hurdles
  • Stefano Montalva –Grade 11 Distance
  • Anthony Briones –Grade  10 Sprints
  • Matt Malvey – Grade 11 Jumps
  • Kevin Ayoso –Grade 11 Sprints

There are a total of seven promising new comers for the girls’ and boys’ teams and they include:

  • Grace Young  – Grade 10 Distances
  • Olivia Buckley –Grade 10 Distances
  • Alix Wojcik – Grade10 Jumps
  • Danielly De Miranda – Grade 12 Jumps
  • April Seratelli  – Grade 12 Throws
  • Madison Latimer –Grade 9 Sprints

Mull commented that there were three significant losses total for both of the teams including Courtney McHale- Jumps, Brandon Zambrano-sprints, and Ryan Holzhauer-distances.

The first track meet of the season will be the season opener invitational on Saturday, March 31 beginning at 9 a.m. and will be away at River Dell High School
