NEWTON, NJ—The Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention Services will host their second annual Night of Comedy and Beefsteak on Friday, September 9.

The event will be held at the Barn at Hillside Park, located at 146 Lake Iliff Road, Andover Twp.  And will begin at 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

“Our dinner is catered by the Brownstone in Paterson, famous for their Beefsteak banquets,” said Executive Director Jamie Bernard, DVS. “The dinner also includes antipasti, pasta, French fries, and dessert. Beer and wine will be available for purchase as well.”

Beefsteak events originated in New York and then came to New Jersey as a fundraiser, usually for a politician and only included men. The main course was a beef loin dipped in a butter-based sauce, served on thinly sliced piece of bread.

The event includes Robin Fox as the headline, a New Jersey mom and comedian who started on Nickelodeon’s “Nickmom Night Out”. She is the 2012 Grand Winner of the Ladies of Laughter Competition and the winner of the 2010 Gilda’s Club Laugh-Off.

Opening for Fox is Tim Hayes, a chiropractor by day and a comedian by night. He won the Sarcasm Comedy Competition. He has also worked as an actor on Law and Order: SVU and has hosted multiple indie films.

“The event is generously sponsored by James Alexander Corporation and Nisivoccia LLP, as well as Albino & Clark, Attorneys at Law, Van den Heuval & Fountain, Inc., Lakeland Bank, the Franklin-Ogdensburg-Hamburg Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #57, and First Hope Bank,” said Bernard.

Last year there were approximately 100 people in attendance. However, this year, according to Bernard, they have already surpassed that in ticket sales. Tickets are $60 each and can be purchased online.
