Everyone’s a Little Irish on St. Patrick’s Day in Newton

NEWTON, NJ—Residents from all over the County Seat lined up along Spring Street sporting the Irish colors Saturday, March 19 for the annual Newton St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Despite the chilly weather at the start, it was not long before the sun was shining through on all the parade goers, cars, and animals that had joined in or had come to watch the parade.

The parade was comprised of 73 groups, more than 1000 people, 87 vehicles, eight floats and trailers, and 60 animals.

This years’ Grand Marshall was Tim Dunnigan, Principal of Vernon High School. He played professional basketball in Ireland. Dunnigan was accompanied by his wife, Bernie. Together they have three children; Patrick, Keriann, and Connor.

The 73 or so groups that participated in the parade are as follows in order of appearance in the parade:
