NEWTON, NJ—With the announcement that Fall Sports were allowed to begin on September 14, the realization that a portion of the fall season has been missed is noticed.

Newton High School seniors who play a fall sport have been invited to submit information about how COVID-19 has affected them during their final season of the sport. This is the 12th  Installment of a multipart spotlight article.

Kymani Bird is a senior who plays striker on the Newton High School boys soccer team.

“Practice during COVID wasn’t as bad," Bird said, “I had fun playing alongside my teammates who I considered to be my family on the field.”

Bird talks about what his experience has been like playing during the final fall season in soccer during the pandemic.

“I wasn’t worried about COVID when I was playing because I’m playing the game I love and having a great time with my teammates," he said.

The Newton High School boys soccer team ended the 2020 season with an overall record of 10-3-1 and a NJAC division record of 9-2-1.
