NEWTON, NJ—With the announcement that Fall Sports were allowed to begin on September 14, the realization that a portion of the Fall season has been missed is noticed.

Newton High School seniors who play a fall sport have been invited to submit information about how COVID-19 has affected them during their final season of the sport. This is the 14th installment of a multi part spotlight article.

Jamie Aughenbaugh is a senior who plays defense on the Newton High School girls soccer team.

“Summer practices during COVID were challenging”, she said, “in the sense that we all had to adjust to the safety precautions and changes from our normal summer practices. However, they were super exciting since we were able to finally see each other and start playing again.”

Aughenbaugh talks about what her experience has been like playing during the final fall season in soccer during the pandemic.

“My last fall season is definitely not what I expected, but I am just happy that we are still able to play,” she said.

The Newton High School girls soccer team ended the 2020 Fall season with an overall record of 3-7-2.
