BEDMINSTER NJ - An errant aircraft over Bedminster drew a military response over the week end, according to law enforcement reports.
A single engine Cessna entered restricted airspace over the Trump National Golf Course, triggering a response from a fighter jet and a Coast Guard helicopter on Saturday. The pilot of the aircraft allegedly failed to acknowledge commands to identify themselves and to divert away from the restricted airspace.
Photos of the helicopter and fighter jet were captured by N. Sullivan in Sparta. Sullivan said "the photos were taken as teh aircraft flew over Lake Mohawk, heading north. The F-22 flew circular patterns for at least 20 minutes. Sometime later, Maybe 40 minutes, the red coast guard helicopter returned by itself, heading southwest."
Trump National is hosting the 2017 LPGA Women's Open. President Trump was present at the time of the incident. It is unknown whether President Trump or anyone on the premises was evacuated. At this time, the status of the errant aircraft has not been reported by authorities.
