SPARTA, NJ – The fourth season of Let Me Run has begun.  Boys in fourth and fifth grade can register for the program slated to begin the week of September 10 and culminates in a 5K race in October.

This season there will be two practices a week at the Helen Morgan School.  Trained coaches will work with teams of six to 14 boys for seven weeks.  The program is more than running, however.  It works to build confidence, self-expression and respect for others, according to the organization’s website.

The program, based in North Carolina was brought to Sparta by Amy Henrie and Ellen WIllwerth.  The mothers were looking for “local activates to engage boys in a team-oriented fitness program,” Willwerth said.

“Amy and I attended training and we were able to initiate the program her in Sparta in the spring of 2016,” Willwerth said. “Since then we’ve had nothing but success with the program and the athletes in it.  We are excited to be back again for another season.”
