NEWTON, NJ— The Newton Lady Braves field hockey beat Lenape Valley 3-1, in the Quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA Tournament, when they played them home in the afternoon on Friday, October 30.
Natalie Rivas led Newton in scoring with two goals during the game. She was followed by Emily Weiss who scored one goal for the Braves.
Assists were made by Hannah Ervey, Kate Barbato, and Weiss. Katie O’Brien, goalkeeper for the braves had two saves against Lenape Valley.
Newton outshot Lenape Valley 16-4. Kaylee Gentilucci, goalie for Lenape had 10 saves against the Braves.
“The team played great! A solid win and a total team effort.” said Coach Lisa Bechtel. We have a positive outlook for the next game.”
The Lady Braves record is now 15-1-2. They will play home against Belvidere on Tuesday, The time is yet to be determined.
