SPARTA, NJ – A man driving on a suspended license tried to evade arrest by giving a false name to Sparta police on April 26.  Sparta Cpl Kurt Morris saw a truck in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Sparta Avenue, recognizing the license plate to be associated with a driver with outstanding warrants and suspended license, according to police.

Cpl Morris confirmed the 2004 GMC Envoy was being driven by Roy Depack, who had outstanding warrants in Rockaway Township. Depack got back into his truck and drove away.  Cpl Morris stopped him on Madison Drive police report.

The driver, however, told Cpl Morris that his name was Dennis Depack, the registered owner of the truck.  Cpl Morris advised the driver that he already knew his true identity and he knew that the driver was lying about his name.
