NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Elementary School, Merriam Avenue School is partnering with The Newton Theatre for the showing of the movie The Polar Express for a family holiday event.
“This collaboration is a continued opportunity for the Newton School District to work together with the Newton business community,” said a Joan Faye, a member of the PTO at Merriam.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. on December 14. The PTO at Merriam will receive some of the proceeds from the fundraiser.
“The Newton Theatre is happy to support our local schools,” said Ann Marie Vitoulis, the Marketing Director at Newton Theatre. “The Polar Express is a new holiday classic and will be a treat for kids and adults alike to see it on the big screen, especially with the theatre’s all new digital cinema and sound system.
Merriam Avenue’s Vice Principal, Kenny Lutz approached the Newton Theatre with the idea to show a movie as a fundraiser for the school. “We thought it was a great idea,” said Vitoulis.
