NEWTON, NJ— Newton Police responded to a report of a garbage truck striking a utility pole in front of 46 Trinity Street on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:27 a.m.
After arriving on scene, it was concluded that Brian Grimshaw, 54, of Bangor, PA, was operating a Sanico garbage truck and struck the utility pole causing it to break in half, when he tried to make a right turn from a driveway onto Trinity Street.
As a result of the accident, Trinity Street was closed for approximately four hours, while Century Link came in to replace the pole.
Grimshaw did not sustain any injuries from the accident and the garbage truck was capable of being driven from the scene. He is however, being issued a summons for careless driving.
Investigating officers were Ptl. Jose Morales and Ptl. Shawn Burke.
