NEWTON, NJ—Despite the wind chill yesterday, the Newton Braves Baseball team took their first win of the season, beating Kittatinny 5-1 when they played them home at Memory Park.

Cole Van Luvender started on the mound for the Braves and pitched for five innings. He struck out four players without giving up any walks. There was one error, six hits and one run scored by Kittatinny.

Billy Carson, the closer for the Braves, pitched two innings, got one strike out and did not allow any walks.

Chase Cramer had two hits and a stolen base in his four at bats. His batting average is .500.

Scott Price got two RBI’s for the Braves in his three turns at bat; he had one hit and one walk. His batting average is .333.

Luke Young also had three at bats for the Braves resulting in two hits, one walk, one stolen base and one run. His batting average is .667.

The Braves are 1-1 in the season thus far. They will take on Hackettstown, away, on Friday, April 8 at 4 p.m.
