NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys baseball team lost  semi-final round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament Pope John 10-0 on Sunday, May 7 in Sparta.

Fifth seed Braves fell to number one seed Lions through the mercy-rule in the fifth inning. Despite having nine players up at the plate for 15 at-bats, the Braves just could not get anyone across the plate.

Alex Blanar, Chase Cramer, Michael Luzzi, Alex Stone, Aldo Vallorosi, and Luke Young each had two at bats, while Gianni Pereira, Scott Price, and Jake Tarabokija each took one turn at the plate.

Scott Price and Billy Carson took the mound for the Braves on Sunday in Sparta against Pope John.

Starter Price threw 87 pitches in the three innings he was on the mound, while Carson threw 28 pitches in the final one and one-third innings.
