NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School baseball team continued on their winning streak so far this season as they took on Lenape Valley on Monday, April 10 away, winning 9-6.
Michael Luzzi led the Braves in their victory over Lenape Valley with four RBIs. Luzzi went 2-for-3 with two hits and the only homerun in the game.
Alex Blanar contributed two RBIs, while Billy Carson and Aldo Vallorosi, each had one RBI. Blanar went 1-for-4 with a double, Carson went 1-for-4 and scored scored a run, and Vallorosi went 1-for-4 with a double.
Chase Cramer, who once again led the Braves in stealing base percentage, stole two bases against Lenape Valley. Cramer went 1-for-4 and scored a run also.
Scott Price went 1-for-3, scoring three runs for the Braves. Luzzi scored two runs for the Braves, and Jake Tarabokija went 1-for-4 against Vernon.
The Braves has a slew of pitchers called to the mound. The starting pitcher, Blanar, went 4.2 innings, struck out one, walked three and allowed four runs, four hits and three errors.
Carson pitched one inning, allowing one hit. Gianni Pereira, pitched two thirds of an inning for one strike out, three walks, allowed one hit and two runs, on two errors.
Tarabokija,closed out the game, throwing for 1.2 innings, walking two. Tarabokija had 23 pitches, Pereira had 29, Carson had 14, and Blanar had 85.
The Braves take their record to 2-0 overall, as they moved on to host West Orange on Tuesday, April 11.
