Newton Baseball Team Remains Undefeated Third Game Into Season

NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School baseball team remains undefeated as it closes out the third game this season with a win. Playing home against West Orange, the Braves won 12-6 on Tuesday.

Alex Stone led the Braves in their victory, contributing three RBIs and two runs, when he went 1-for-4 at bat.

Jake Tarabokija, Justin Mayhood, and Scott Price, each contributed two RBIs against West Orange. Tarabokija went 1-for-3 with a double, Mayhood went 1-for-4 with a double, and Price went 2-for-3, scoring three runs, with one double.

Chase Cramer and Aldo Vallorosi also each scored three runs for the Braves. Cramer went 1-for-3 and was walked twice, while Vallorosi went 2-for-4 and was walked once.

Newton had three pitchers take the mound against West Orange, Stone, Gianni Pereira and Jason Leonardo.

Stone pitched four innings, walking two and allowing one run on two hits. Pereira, who pitched one inning, hurled 26 pitches.

Leonardo went 2.1 innings, struck out one, walked one and allowed five runs on six hits and three errors.

The Newton High School Braves will host Sparta on Thursday, April 13, beginning at 4 p.m.
