NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School baseball team beat Sparta 8-7, when they played them home on Thursday, April 13.
Chase Cramer and Luke Young each led the Braves in RBIs, batting in two apiece. Cramer went 2-for-5, getting the only stolen base for Newton, while Young went 3-for-4, scoring two runs.
Jake Tarbokija, Alex Blanar, and Michael Luzzi, each contributed one RBI each. Tarabokija went 2-for-3 scoring one run, Blanar went 1-for-4, and Luzzi went 2-for-3, walking once.
Alex Stone and Aldo Vallorosi each went 2-for-3 at bat, scoring one run each. Stone and Vallorosi each got hit by a pitch, while Vallorosi got walked once.
Starting for the Braves on the mound was Billy Carson, who pitched five innings, with one strike out and allowed six runs on 10 hits with three errors.
Finishing up the game on the mound for Newton was Gianni Pereira, who pitched two innings, striking out three and walking one. He allowed one run on one hit with one error.
The Braves are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in their league division. They move forward to take on Mount Olive, home on Saturday, April 15 beginning at 3:30 p.m.
