NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys basketball team crushed High Point, 58-28, when they played them home on Tuesday.
The game began with two foul shots by Luismy Arias due to a technical foul on High Point because of an illegal dunk during warm-ups.
Jason Heter was the top scorer for the Braves, contributing 24 points against High Point, with 12 2-pointers. Charlie Maker contributed 15 points to the scoreboard, making six 2-pointers and three foul shots.
Arias contributed six points, Jaiden Elliot had five, Jake Heller had three, Luke Young and Kevin Ayoso each had two and Thomas Salomon had one point.
The Braves dominated every quarter of the game against High Point, scoring 19 points in the first, 18 in the second, 16 in the third and five in the last quarter.
Offensively, the Braves had 23 2-pointers, two 3-pointers, six foul shots, and had 15 assists. Defensively, they had 16 rebounds, 10 steals and three blocks.
The Newton High School boys basketball team is 16-6 overall this season and 3-0 in the conference division.
