NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School Braves lost 46-38 against the Morristown Colonials on Saturday in a game that went into overtime.
Newton dominated the first half, scoring 14 points in the first quarter and adding another five in the second. They took the lead going into halftime by three points.
Aaron Fantasia put up 14 points, making four 2-pointers, one 3-pointer and three foul shots. JD Heller followed close behind, adding 11 points to the board with four from inside the paint and one from 3-point land.
Brian McKeown added eight points, while Dylan Bailey put up four.
At the end of four quarters or regulation play, the teams were both tied with a score of 38 points apiece; a fifth quarter was played.
Morristown scored an additional eight points to secure the lead and take the victory from Newton, who unfortunately were unable to add any points to their side of the score.
The Newton High School Braves moved their record to 5-4 overall and their NJAC division record to 3-2. They will host Wallkill Valley on Tuesday, January 14 beginning at 7 p.m.
