NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Boys Basketball Team swept past Vernon when they beat them, 55-31, when they played them home on Friday, Jan. 22.

Samir Wheeler was the high-scorer for the second night in a row, contributing a total of 15 points. He made four 2-pointers, two 3-pointers, and one foul shot.

Charlie Maker was not far behind Wheeler, scoring 14 points for the Braves by making seven 2-pointers.

Six other Braves contributed to the victory as well:

  • Patrick O’Doherty- seven points,
  • Chase Cramer and Jason Heter- six points,
  • Collin Kelly- three points, and
  • Tim O’Brien and Luke Young- two points.

The Braves made a total of 19 2-pointers, four 3-pointers, and five foul shots. They also had 23 rebounds, 12 assists, seven steals, and five blocks in the game against Vernon.
