NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys basketball team coasted past Mount Olive on Friday, December 22, when they played them home and won 73-50
“We started the game shooting well and opened a big lead and coasted to the end of the game,” head coach Dirk Kelly said.
Jacob Heller led the Braves in their victory, scoring 15 points, followed by Jaiden Elliot with 13, Jake Tarabokija with 12 and Troy Babcock with 10.
“Jake Heller shot the ball extremely well, Thomas Salomon played exceptional defense, Jaiden Elliot gave us a lift off the bench and Jake Tarabokija had nine assists. It was a nice win against a big school,” Kelly said.
Other Braves who contributed to the scoreboard were Salomon with nine points, Luke Young with eight, and then Luismy Arias, Kevin Ayoso and Alex Rivas each scoring two points apiece.
Offensively, the Braves scored 14 2-pointers, 10 3-pointers, and 15 of their foul shots against Mount Olive.
