NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Boys Basketball won 54-41 against Jefferson when they hosted them on Tuesday, February 23, on Newton’s senior night.
The Braves 15 points in the first quarter and, adding another 15 in the second quarter put Newton was up by 11 heading into halftime.Jefferson fought in the second half, scoring a total of 22 points but it was not enough to get past Newton who put up 24 before the final buzzer.
Senior Aaron Fantasia led the Braves in points, putting up three 2-pointers, three 3-pointers and two foul shots for a total of 17.
Brian McKeown followed closely behind with 12 points, consisting of three 2-pointers and two 3-pointers.
Jake Benitz and senior Dylan Bailey each contributed seven points apiece. Senior Donovan Thomas added five points, Jack Young added another four and Pasquale Festa added another two.
The Newton High School boys basketball team moved their overall and NJAC record to 8-3 as they look ahead to Saturday, where they will play away against Morris Hills at 1 p.m.
