NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys basketball team played three games over the winter break, taking all three as wins.
They played home against Hanover Park on Wednesday, December 27 and won 69-32, then played home against Warren Hills on Thursday, December 28 and won 59-51. They finished up away against Roxbury on Saturday, December 30 winning 57-44.
Newton vs. Hanover Park: 69-32
Jake Tarabokija led the Braves in their victory over Hanover Park, contributing 16 points, along with Jaiden Elliot and Luismy Arias, each contributing 13 and Jacob Heller with 12 points.
Kevin Ayoso contributed seven points. Troy Babcock scored six points and Alex Rivas had two points.
Newton vs. Warren Hills: 59-51
Once again, Tarabokija led the team to their victory, contributing 18 points this game, along with Arias who scored 15, Heller with 11, Babcock with 10, Thomas Salomon scored three points and Elliot had two.
“We played a good first half and then let the good defense of Warren Hills rattle us in the second half,” head coach Dirk Kelly said. “The made foul shots of Troy Babcock, Jake Tarabokija and Luismy Arias gave us the win.”
Newton vs. Roxbury: 57-44
Tarabokija, for the third straight time over the winter break led the Newton Braves to victory over their opponent, this time scoring 20 points.
Arias contributed to the score as well, scoring 19 points, while Elliot scored eight, Salomon scored five, Heller scored three and Babcock score two against Roxbury.
The Newton High School Braves brought their record to 6-1 overall and 1-0 for their conference division record.
