NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys lacrosse team was ranked tenth in the preliminary round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament against 15-seeded High Point and won 14-3 on Wednesday.
Leading the Braves in their victory over High Point were players, Kyle Vandenberg, Ryan Vanderburg, and Logan Kellenberger, who scored three goals apiece for Newton.
Following behind them were Grant parker with two goals, and Andrew Chrustic, Tommy Carson, and Reese Ivaldi, who each scored one goal for Newton.
Tyler Sevean, goalkeeper for the Newton Braves team, had nine saves against high Point’s offensive players.
Parker and Nick Krawchuk each grabbed six ground balls throughout the game, with PJ Russell following with five and Chrustic following with four.
Vanderburg scooped up three ground balls, while Kellenberger, Vandenberg, and Matt Krawchuk got to two ground balls apiece.
Grabbing one ground ball each throughout the game were Newton players, Jacob Estevez, Hunter Grave de Peralta, Max Weiss, Carson, Ivaldi, Anthony McCann, Brendon Reed, and Matt Welker.
The Newton High School Boys Lacrosse team moves to the first round of the H/W/S tournament to play seven-seeded Voorhees away on Saturday, May 6.
