NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys lacrosse Team fell hard, 14-2 against Jefferson, when they played them home on Monday.

Despite their best offensive efforts, Newton struggled to score and pick-up ground balls against Jefferson. Giovanni Bevacqua and Ryan Vanderburg each scored goals for Newton, with assists from Kyle Vandenberg and Matt Krawchuk.

Scooping up ground balls for Newton were Tim Houliohan with five and Grant Parker and Andrew Chrustic with four each.

Bevacqua managed to grab three, while Jacob Estevez, Hunter Grave de Peralta, and Nick Krawchuk got to two each.

Newton had two goalies throughout the game against Jefferson, regular goalie Tyler Sevean and Chris Polyak, who each had three saves.

The Braves take their 7-5 overall record and move onto the next season game on Wednesday. They will be hosting Warren Hills during their Senior Parent Day beginning at 4 p.m.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — No injuries have been reported in an incident that shut down Bridgewater Commons Mall Thursday evening after a fight involving a crowd of 40-50 people.

Police are still investigating unconfirmed reports of shots being fired, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
