NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Boys Lacrosse team lost 15-1 against Mountain Lakes when they played them away on Wednesday, May 18 in the first round of the Group 1, NJSIAA Tournament.

Newton’s goalkeepers Zach Mueller and John Bugay each put up a fight against Mountain Lakes.

Mueller had eight saves and allowed 10 goals. Bugay had six saves against Mountain Lakes and allowed five goals.

Newton’s Ryan Vanderburg was the only Brave to make a goal. Newton took 14 shots on their opponent’s goal and got 14 lground balls.

The Braves are 6-11 overall and 2-4 in the league. They are fifth in the league, behind Lenape Valley (3-3), North Warren (5-1), Vernon (5-1) and Jefferson (5-1).

They are ahead of Kittatinny (1-5) and High Point (0-6). Besides any make up games caused by rain, the Braves’ season ended on Wednesday.
