Newton Boys Soccer Loses Close Game to Mount Olive

NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School Boys Soccer team lost a close game of 4-3 against Mount Olive on Monday, after two overtime periods, when they played them away.

Kevin Ayoso, David Crowley, and Edward Lynch each scored one goal apiece for the Braves, with assists by Crowley and Josh Faller.

Goalkeeper for the Braves was starting goalie, Noah Metzgar, who had four saves against Mount Olive’s 17 shots on goal.

Newton and Mount Olive went neck and neck, each getting 17 shots throughout the regular game, tying and going into double overtime before Mount Olive took the win.

 

"It was just a bad game all around," Jake Mull said. "We didn't play as well as we should have."

The Braves took on Sparta on Monday as they moved their record to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in their conference division.
