NEWTON, NJ—The sun was shining on Newton’s turf field as the Newton High School boys soccer team, took on Lenape Valley and won 4-0.
The boys went out strong, passing and calling for the ball the entire first half of the game, while also maintaining a strong defense. They let the ball get back to goalie Noah Metzgar only three times in the entire first half.
Edward Lynch led the Braves, putting two goals on the scoreboard, with the help of Kevin Ayoso and Tommy Herrmann who each had one goal.
Assists were made by Ayoso, David Crowley and Josh Faller. Metzgar had a total of three saves against Lenape Valley’s shots throughout the whole game.
The Braves are now 3-1-1 overall and still maintain a 1-1-1 conference division record as they move ahead in the season to take on Mount Olive away on Monday, September 18 beginning at 4 p.m.
