NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School boys soccer team shut out High Point 3-0 when they played them home on Wednesday, October 26.

Goals were scored by Jefferson Argandona-Mecias, Patrick Bresney, and Edward Lynch. Assists were made by Bresney and Johnny Costa.

The Newton High School Braves took 16 shots against High Point’s goalie Garret Potter, who had 13 saves. High Point took seven shots on Newton’s goalkeeper, Sam Miller, who had four saves.

The Braves move their record up to 14-3 overall this season and 7-1 in their conference division, which they lead, right in front of High Point.

Newton will begin the 2016 NJSIAA, North 1, Group 2 tournament on Monday, October 31. They will host 16-seeded Dwight-Morrow.
