NEWTON, NJ—For the second time this season, Newton High School baseball beat Wallkill Valley. They played on Thursday on the Rangers’ field winning 4-2. Scott Price drove in two runs with a triple in the top of the eighth inning and two outs on the board to clinch the 4-2 win for Newton.
Alex Blanar pitched the entire eight-inning game. He allowed six hits on one error, struck out two players and walked one to earn the win.
Billy Carson and Chase Cramer each contributed one RBI for the Braves. Carson went 3-for-4, scoring two runs. Cramer went 1-for-5, with a double.
Michael Luzzi and Luke Young each scored one run for Newton. Luzzi went 1-for-3 and grabbed a stolen base. Young went 2-for-5.
The Braves had 22 at-bats, eight hits, one double, one triple, and one stolen base. Newton played Wallkill Valley home last week on Wednesday, April 27 and shut them out 6-0.
Newton will host Hackettstown in the Semi-finals round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament on Saturday, May 7 at 2 p.m. on Babe Ruth Field at Memory Park.
