NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Braves football team lost to Lenape Valley 38-14, when they played them away on Friday, September 16.
For Newton’s defense, Jonathan VanNess led the Braves with 10 tackles, followed by Will Larsen with nine, Jaiden Elliot and Scott Price, each had eight grabs, and Dante North with seven. VanNess also had a sack against Lenape Valley.
Newton’s defense was able to block four of Lenape Valley’s extra point attempts.
Offensively, Newton’s Chase Cramer contributed a total of eight points, Billy Young had six, and Nicholas Giordano contributed one.
Quarterback for Newton, Luke Young completed three passes, attempted 13, had two interferences and passed a total of 59 yards throughout the game.
Cramer got to the end zone on a 13 yard run to tie the score in the first quarter. With the extra point, that was it for Newton until the third quarter. Billy Young was able to get six more for the Braves on a 23-yard run.
Young finished the game rushing 91 yards. Cramer was not too far behind, ending the game with 65 yards rushed.
The Braves with a record of 1-1 will take on Hopatcong, home, on Friday, September 23 under the lights beginning at 7 p.m.
