NEWTON. NJ—The Newton High School girls field hockey team defeated Kittatinny 7-1 over when they played them away on Monday, October 5.

The Braves offense dominated with 22 shots on goal while the defense held the Cougars to three shots on Braves’ goalie, Erin McLean.

Senior, Elissar Abou-Jaoude was the lead scorer with three goals. Sidney Pavlishin put two in the net. Julia Decker and Julia Fitt  both got by Kittatinny goalie Emily Hotz for one point each.

Fitt and Bridget Kerrick each had an assist. McLean had two saves, while Hotz had 15 saves against the 22 shots.

The Newton High School field hockey team moves their record to 1-0 as they move to their next game on Wednesday, October 7 home against Hackettstown beginning at 4 p.m.
