NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School football team demolished Hopatcong, beating them 47-13 on Friday on Hopatcong’s field.
Despite missing key player Chase Cramer due to an injury from the previous game, the Newton Braves came out full force with many other Braves stepping into lead the team.
Defensively, Will Larsen and Nick Brigante led the Braves with six tackles each. Brigante was the only Brave to sack during the game and he came out with two sacks total.
Offensively, Larsen led the Braves once again scoring 14 points. Brigante had six points along with Wyatt McCarthy, Dante Northe, Nico Sebastiano, and Julian Sibblies. Joey DeLuca had two points and Devin Mager had one.
Luke Young completed seven of the nine attempted passes for a total of 186 yards against Hopatcong.
Haiden Elliott grabbed three passes for a total of 84 yards, followed by Sebastiano catching two for 60 yards and Larsen who got two passes for 46 total yards.
Larsen once again stepping up to the challenge for the Braves, with 85 rushing yards. Brigante ran for 65 yeards , McCarthy got 50 and Northe 40 rushing yards.
The Newton High School Braves football team is now 3-0 overall and 2-0. They will host Vernon on Friday, September 29 on Palmer Field with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
