NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School football team lost a close game of 25-22 against Pequannock when they played the away on Friday, September 13.

Braves Aaron Fantasia, Jack Young, and Takeo Sibblies rushed a total of 160 yards; Young rushed 114, Fantasia rushed 28 and Sibblies rushed 18.

Young ended the game with 12 completed passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns. He was intercepted twice.

Dylan Bailey and Ryan Pappas each scored one touchdown. Fantasia received six passes for 108 yards, Bailey received three passes for 55 yards, Pappas had two passes and 30 yards, while Julian Sibblies received one pass for 15 yards.

Defensively, Newton’s players Bailey and Jacob Tonking had eight tackles each, Fantasia and Jabari Oxley had four each, Pappas had three and J Sibblies had two.

Fantasia also had one interception, along with Bailey. Derek Campbell attempted two extra points and made them both.

They are currently 0-2 so far this season. They will play away against Whippany Park on Friday, September 20. Kick-off will begin at 7 p.m.
