NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School football team played a tough game against High Point, when they played them away on Friday, September 21 and won 18-7.
According to the fans at High Point the game "was a tough one," but Newton came out on top and added another win to their record, continuing their winning streak and remaining undefeated so far this season.
The Braves scored 12 points in the second quarter, but High Point came back and scored one touchdown, the only one they would score for the remainder of the game. After halftime, Newton came back and scored another six points in the fourth quarter for the win.
Defensively, Ryan Kaiser led with 10 tackles. Nick Brigante and Jimmy Harding each had one sack throughout the game, and Michael Freda had the only interception.
Offensively, Brigante, Freda and Kaiser each scored one touchdown for Newton. Kaiser had a total of 110 yards rushed, while Freda had 86 yards, and Brigante had 36 yards.
The Braves move their overall record to 4-0, continuing their winning streak, while their conference-division record is 2-0.
Newton will take on Hopatcong away on Friday, September 28 with a kick off beginning at 7 p.m.
