NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School football team shut out Vernon on Friday, 41-0, when they played them home.
Will Larsen and Jaiden Elliot led the Braves in their victory over Vernon each putting 12 points on the score board. Nick Brigante and Noah Sharp each contributed eight points, Dante Northe had six points and Joey DeLuca contributed one.
Defensively, Jonathan VanNess had two sacks, while Ryan Kaiser and Brigante each had one sack. Sharp had one interception and Cullen Orabone, along with James Daley each had one fumble-recovery.
Offensively the Braves dominated over the Vikings. Luke Young completed five of six attempted passes for a total of 185 yards and four touchdowns in the air.
Elliot caught for 109 yards, followed by Larsen with 48 and Northe who connected for 28 yards. Larsen led in rushing yards with 102, followed by Wyatt McCarthy with 52 and Brigante with 38 yards rushed.
The Newton Braves are now 4-0 overall this season and 2-0 in their conference-division thus far. They move ahead to host Lakeland on Palmer Field on Friday, October 6 with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
