NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School Girls Basketball team lost by two points to Morris Knolls 31-29, when they played them away on Friday, January 13.

Leading the Braves in scoring were Jasmine Luciani and Kaitlyn Lynch, who each put up nine points on the board.

Luciani made two 2-pointers, one 3-pointer, and two foul shots, while Lynch made two 2-pointers and five foul shots.

Following close behind in points was Jade Luciani who scored six, making three 2-pointers. She was followed by Olivia O’Brein with three points and Jenny Boyer with two.

Offensively, the Braves scored eight 2-pointers, two 3-pointers, and seven foul shots. Defensively, the Braves had nine assists, eight steals, one block and 31 rebounds, with Jade Luciani getting 12 of them.

The Newton High School Girls basketball team is currently 7-4 overall this season and 2-0 in the conference division. They will host High Point on Thursday, January 19, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
