NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls basketball team lost to Jefferson 60-45, when they hosted on Thursday.

Leading the Braves in scoring was Jasmine Luciani, who put up 11 points with four 2-pointers and three foul shots.

Close behind Luciani were Braves Jade Luciani with nine points, Courtney McHale with seven points and Emily Pappas with six points.

Jade Luciani made three 2-pointers and three foul shots, McHale made one 2-pointer and five foul shots, and Pappas made two 2-pointers and two foul shots.

Kaitlyn Lynch scored five points, Arianna Ziegler scored four points, and Madison Leonardo scored three points.

Defensively, the Braves had 18 rebounds, 10 steals and one block. They made 14 2-pointers and 17 foul shots and had 13 assists throughout the game against Jefferson.

The Newton High School Girls Basketball team’s record is 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the conference division. They will host Wallkill Valley on Saturday, January 28, beginning at 11 a.m.
