NEWTON. NJ—The Newton High School Girls Basketball team blew away Wallkill Valley 61-8, on their home court on Thursday.

Once again leading the Braves this season in scoring, Jasmine Luciani was the lead scorer with 13 points, three 2 pointers, one 3-pointer and four foul shots.

Kaitlyn Lynch, another lead scorer for the Braves this season, did not trail far behind, bringing 11 points to the scoreboard for the Braves with five 2-pointers and one foul shot.

Olivia O’Brein and Emily Pappas each contributes eight points to the score. O’Brein had one 2-pointer and two 3-pointers, while Pappas had three 2-pointers and two foul shots.

Madison Leonardo also scored big for the Braves, contributing seven points towards the board with two 2-pointers and one 3-pointer.

Overall on offense, the Braves made 21 2-pointers, four 3-pointers, seven foul shots, and had 21 assists throughout the game.

Defensively, the Newton High School Girls Basketball team was able to get two blocks, eight steals, and 39 rebounds.

The Braves will take on Morris Catholic away at Morris Catholic in Denville on Saturday, January 7, beginning at 1 p.m.
