NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Girls Basketball team lost to High Point, 56-26, when they played them home on Thursday, January 19.

Leading the Braves in scoring was Kaitlyn Lynch, who contributed 11 points for the team, making four 2-points and three foul shots.

Following her were Braves’ Irelee Ferguson with six points, making one 2-pointer, one 3-pointer, and one foul shot, and Courtney McHale with five points, making two 2-pointers and one foul shot.

The Luciani sisters, Jasmine and Jade each contributed two points to the score board with two foul shots apiece.

Offensively, the Braves made seven 2-pointers, one 3-pointer, nine foul shots, and had seven assists. Defensively, the Braves had three steals and 21 rebounds throughout the game.

The Newton High School Girls Basketball team is 7-5 overall this far into the season and 2-0 in the conference division. They will host Vernon on Monday, January 23, beginning at 4 p.m.
