NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls soccer team added two more wins to their record this week when they won against High Point on Tuesday and Jefferson on Thursday.

Newton hosted Jefferson on Thursday and took the win, shutting them out 1-0. Newton outshot Jefferson 23-10.

Madeline Gore and Caroline Fox each had their time in the net for Newton. Gore who started for the Braves had seven saves and Fox had three. Jessie Brannick scored for the Braves.

On Tuesday, the Braves took on High Point, also on their home field and won 4-2. Fox and Gore each had a chance in goal and each had five saves.

Both teams were competitive with Newton putting 10 shots on goal and High Point booting nine. Scoring for Newton was Lanie Scuralli and Blaise Vallorosi, who each contributed two goals. Olivia Buckley and Taylor Squiers assisted. 

The Braves moved their overall record to 9-6-2 this season and their NJAC division record to 8-4-1. They will take on top-seeded North Hunterdon at noon, away, on Saturday, October 19 in the semi-final round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament.
