NEWTON, NJ— For the third year in a row, the Newton Girls Soccer team are the colonial division champions of the NJAC after beating North Warren, 6-2, on Thursday, October 29.
Kayleigh Furth led the Braves by scoring four goals in the game. She was followed by Gabrielle Brown and Kass Wojcik who each scored one goal for Newton.
Courtney McHale led the team with assists, contributing two. She was joined by Furth, Brown, Amanda Lawrence, and Ashley VanHoorebeke, who each had one assist.
“The girls played well and moved the ball around the field.” said Coach Jake Mull.
Newton outshot North Warren 17-7. Karis Steele, goalie for Newton, had three saves. The girls win the division with a record of 10-7-1.
The girls will start states ranked 11th seed and will be playing away at High Point ranked 6 on Monday, November 2 at 2 p.m.
“We are just taking the states one game at a time, which means we are playing High Point and are going to try and win that game.” said Mull.
