NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School girls soccer team lost in the first round of the NJSIAA North 1, Group 2 tournament 3-2, when they played seventh-seeded Glen Rock away on Tuesday, November 1.

Newton’s Ashley VanHoorebeke and Brianna Moffitt each scored one goal against Glen Rock. Assists were made by Kayleigh Furth and Lanie Scurali.

Glen Rock came back in the second half to score the final winning goal to move them into the next round.

Newton’s goalie, Karis Steel had eight saves in the game against Glen Rock. The number of shots taken on each goal was not recorded.

The Newton High School Girls Soccer team will end it season with an overall record of 9-9-1 and a conference-division record of 3-1.
