NEWTON, NJ—The Newton Girls Soccer team lost to Vernon 3-2, when they played them away on Saturday, September 10.

Kayleigh Furth, who led the Braves last year in scoring, contributed one goal, while Brianna Giordano got one as well.

Assists were made by Furth and Kass Wojcik. Karis Steele, goalkeeper for Newton, had four saves against the 10 shots Vernon took. Newton had 14 shots on Vernon’s goal.

The Braves’ record is now 1-1 as they look ahead to next week, taking on Hackettstown on Tuesday, September 13 away starting at 4 p.m.
