NEWTON, NJ—After two regulation played halves, a tie in score at one all caused Newton and North Hunterdon to go into double overtime.

The two overtime periods were scoreless, leaving the teams to rule the winner through a penalty shot competition.

North Warren ended up scoring three against Newton’s two penalty kicks to win the final round of the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex tournament.

Blaise Vallorosi scored the tying goal for Newton, with an assist from Davis Ann Boyd. Karis Steele, keeper for Newton had 10 saves throughout the tournament game.

“Our girls played a great game," Head Coach Jake Mull said. “Unfortunately we weren't able to put the ball in the net when we had the opportunity. In championship games you don't get many chances so you have to capitalize when you do.”
